Online support makes for more enthusiastic play. But there are challenges...

The following comments are from the person in charge of development at BANDAI CO., LTD.

In the previous series, the aim was to become a top idol, "Aikatsu!" We have been doing this for many years. We decided to support online because we wanted to provide a play experience that would make people want to become top idols even more enthusiastically by allowing them to battle stages with idols from all over the country.

In the early stages of development, the development team consisted mainly of client application developers, and there was no server-side development team. In the development of this work, a real-time battle mode against idols from all over the country was an essential part of the development process. However, implementing a server for real-time battles was a high hurdle, and considering the need for network elements other than real-time battles, server development was one issue.

GS2 provides the various functions required for smartphone games, as well as matching and real-time battle functions. The fact that it could be implemented without the need to develop a server program, which had been a challenge, was appealing.

Idols compete on the "Battle Stage".
Shortened development time by adopting GS2. Furthermore, development is achieved with a small number of people.

After actually adopting the system, we feel that we were able to shorten the development period related to the communication process. It took some time to learn how GS2 works and scrutinize its functions in order to achieve the desired functionality, but even so, I think we were able to implement it much faster than if we had developed a server from scratch.

The fact that we were able to develop the application using only client application developers had a positive effect not only in terms of reduced development time, but also in terms of human resources.

Almost all specifications are achieved with only a combination of GS2 functions.
The missing parts are also covered by GS2 support.

Even when processing not supported by the standard functions was required, GS2-Script could be used to extend the functionality, so in most cases it was possible to supplement the functionality. Sometimes, we would ask GS2 staff to extend existing functions that we felt were lacking. Thanks to this, I don't think there is anything that we wanted to do but couldn't.

GS2's support was responsive, and when we needed to implement additional functions, we were able to do so in a short period of time. During the consultation process, GS2 was very flexible in providing support and suggesting the most appropriate GS2 functions to realize our project.
