TAKARA TOMY A.R.T.S - Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken Crossblade

The characters from "Dragon Quest: Dai no Taiyo no Boken" are now in your hands as shiny, shiny, shiny cards!

Formulate a strategy with your original party and start battling your opponents!

Move the dice freely on the flat panel and grab victory with a series of hits and special moves!

Why did you decide to introduce the online feature this time?

Recently, there has been a worldwide problem of IC chip depletion. Until now, "Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken Crossblade" used to record adventures on an IC chip. However, with IC chips becoming hard to come by, the question arose as to what to do in the future.

Today, the world is full of systems that store data in the cloud. We also explored such a system and decided that it would be better to manage data online instead of using IC cards.

There were several options available to you, including in-house development and SaaS-type game servers from other companies.

We have been using GS2 in our other development line, "Whatcha primaji! which we are developing on a different development line, was a great experience for us. We also felt that GS2's concept of being able to freely combine the server functions that have been prepared in advance made it easy to develop.

The most important point was the speed with which the development was done.

We have done so in the past, but it is time-consuming to launch and progress with the development of a server system piece by piece in the initial development. The GS2 documentation not only describes the API, but also includes program fragments for various programming languages. By combining them, we were able to incorporate online functionality into the game, which was by far the fastest way to do it compared to creating it from scratch.

Have you actually used GS2 to develop online functionality and do you think it has helped you shorten your development time?

I think we were able to speed up the process by a month. The implementation required fewer adjustments to the server-side specifications.

Did you feel that developing with GS2 had a positive impact on your team in terms of size?

We were able to compress the development process that would normally have required a dedicated staff. I feel that this was definitely effective.

With the GS2 concept of creating a network system by combining parts prepared in advance, it is easy to run into the problem of not being able to do what you want to do.

There was no lack of functionality and no part of the system that we had trouble with.

GS2 has many different features, have you had any experiences where this has led to new inspirations in your development?

As yet, this work uses only a fraction of GS2's functionality.

There have been plans to incorporate online elements as an idea, but in some cases we were hesitant to do so because of the cost and resources involved in development. Through the development of this project, we have heard that GS2 may be able to make this happen.

Do you have any comments or suggestions about GS2 support?

We have just signed up for Business Support. We were able to proceed with the development without stress because of the prompt response to our inquiries.

Thank you very much. We look forward to working with you in the future!
